#H7N9 – Beijing found the first case of human infection with the H7N9
I saw this first nine hours ago via three Twitter posts.
And then every hour or so some other person posted that it indeed was true. Being a chicken (please excuse the pun), I was reluctant to post it to my blog or Twitter not wanting to spread rumors. But in the last 6 hours there has been a continuing confirmation of the Beijing case.
So here is the original posting translated from Chinese from seven hours ago.
In the afternoon of April 12, 2013, the Beijing CDC laboratory testing confirmed that the Ditan Hospital treated a 7-year-old children with human infection of H7N9 avian influenza. This is the first case of human infection of H7N9 avian influenza in Beijing. Currently, Beijing Ditan Hospital is taking active measures to treat the child, the child is in stable condition. City CDC has implemented two close contacts under medical observation, flu-like symptoms have not found. In accordance with the provisions of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau specimens were sent to the Chinese Center for Disease Control for review, to confirm the final diagnosis.
