Experts Off to China

Bloomberg News reported that the Chinese government has invited four international flu experts to come to China to help authorities respond to the country’s widening bird-flu emergency. The team will arrive on about April 17 to offer technical advice. They include:

  • Nancy Cox, director of the flu division at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta
  • Anne Kelso, director of a World Health Organization flu research center in Melbourne
  • Malik Peiris from the University of Hong Kong
  • Angus Nicoll, head of the Stockholm-based European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control’s flu program

Possible Four Year Old Boy – Asymptomatic H7N9

China news reports a four year old boy has a case of asymptomatic H7N9. Translating from Sina news sources, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, confirmed that a 4-year-old boy. Has the H7N9 avian flu virus but currently has no clinical symptoms.
