June 30, 2010

H1N1 has been very quiet around the globe for the past few months.  As we get into the monsoon season (June – September) in India that has changed.  There has been a total of 17 H1N1 fatalities reported in India since June 21, most of them coming from the south in Kerala and Maharashtra.

There are a total of four states reporting deaths:

  • Kerala – 7
  • Maharashtra – 7
  • Andhra Pradesh – 2
  • Uttar Pradesh – 1

Kerala reported 16 deaths from May 15 till June 15, prompting the Central government to send a three-member team to the state to assess the situation.
